Building

History made visionary

Maximilianstrasse was built in 1850 by royal decree of King Maximilian II of Bavaria. The king’s vision was to fuse traditional architectural styles with modern influences. Renowned 19th-century architect Georg Bürklein was entrusted to realize this ambition.

For Maximilianstrasse, Bürklein blended neo-Gothic and Renaissance architecture to create a distinctive style. In striking contrast, the glass-fronted Maximilianbau was built in 2003. It houses world-leading firms, luxury retailers, and an elegant restaurant that opens onto a charming courtyard.

Two buildings
One address

Remaining true to King Maximilian’s fusion of the modern with the traditional, Maximilianhöfe is comprised of two buildings. The grand Bürkleinbau building is accessed via Maximilianstrasse, and blends seamlessly into Maximilianbau, with its glass facade overlooking scenic Marstallplatz.

A landmark of influence

Maximilianhöfe occupies a prime position between two of Munich’s most prestigious landmarks: the Bavarian State Opera and the Kempinski Four Seasons Hotel. Surrounded by Bavaria’s cultural and political heritage, including the State Parliament, the Residenz palace, and the ‘Englischer Garten’, this address combines world-class workspace, luxury retail, and fine dining, making it the finest address in Germany.
